This product works exactly as advertised,and comes with all the screws and mounting-adjusters. Instructions are almost too detailed, but setup is intutive. I strongly suggest that after reading the directions you install this with double-sided tape first to get the fit just right. Once you like the fit and positioning, you can drill most of the screw holes without removing it. The magnet is strong enough so that once it shuts it’s shut - I feel very confident that our 2 year old won’t end up in the lake or out in the street after the gardener or a visitor leaves the latch off a bit. We ordered two and both are keyed the same. The key-lock is shielded from the rain and should not rust. I have found no negatives.—Mike J

I put it on. I am using this on a gate to my pool. This keeps small children from opening the gate. Also it latches securely when the gate swings shut. I don’t use the locking mechanism as I have a deadbolt I use for that purpose.—Tom M

I recently purchased and installed the “dual access gate latch” to solve the problem of always being on the “wrong side of my yard gate” and having to go around to the other side (where the padlock was). I’d been looking for something like this for a long time and was pleasantly surprised to discover that there actually IS such a thing! Being able to open the gate from either side will definitely make yard work a lot less of a hassle, as I can now go from front-to-back or back-to-front using an otherwise-locked gate.
1. It has a “real” lock cylinder that uses a “real” house-type key. This is so much better than those cheap stamped keys that come with many padlocks nowadays.
2. Doesn’t take an inordinate amount of time to install (about 1-1/2 hours for my first one) and should install easily on most wooden gates with a post or other suitable framing (e.g., a 4x4 post and 2x4 framing).
This is a functional device. It solves a problem: that of the homeowner being able to easily use a locked gate from either side. What it lacks in security might be made up for in reducing the “annoyance factor” of always being on the wrong side of the gate! ;-)—JA

Simple and easy to install. Very sleek in design and easy to use. Allows older (taller) children to open gate while preventing younger (shorter) children from opening.—HB

It took me maybe about 20 min. to install. I would recommend to all, easy to put up and anyone can do it. I like the way it locks so you leave to go somewhere and you dont have to worry about someone going to the pool.—RS

I would definitely recommend this product because it is CHILD SAFE! I installed it on my pool gate. The installation was easy. The bulk of my time was consumed by removing the old hardware. The new hinges are installed with screws and the closure tension is asjusted by the turn of a screw. The MagnaLatch Gate Latch was also simple to install, again only self tapping screws were used. The only tool required is a drill motor, drill 1/8 drill bite and a screwdriver. The entire installation took me 1 1/2 hours which included removing the old hardware, touching up the painted surface and installing the new items.
The hinges have demonstrated a positive closure everytime without fail!
The latch also locks everytime without fail due to the clever magnetic positive latching system with a keyed lock. The knob for the lock system can be installed in a position that allows for the latch pull know to be positioned higher than the fence and gate, thus little ones can’t reach the pull knob to open the gate. It is in my opinion that a Magnalatch and hinges should be mandatory on all pool gates where children have access!—PT

I loved the latching system and I gave it the acid test by inviting my neighbors 4 kids (ranging in age from 6 yrs to 2 yrs) to come over to my pool and try to get past the gate. Needless to say they couldn’t get in.—JV

Closes and latches much more secure than the existing latch. Also doesn’t rattle my wrought iron gate like the existing latch.—MB

This product is easy to install,adjusting the hinge closing is a snap to adjust. I like the fact that they are made of polymer and that there’s no rust or maintenance.—TJ

This product beats any that I have used. The way it is made is very adaptable to each situation. I was intending to replace my gate with a wooden one like what was on the pool fence but when I saw the quality and features of the latch and hinges I decided to replace the frame with a metal one and the hardware was a breeze to adapt.
Thanks for building a quality product that is as good as it claims. I will be ordering more for my other gate as they need replacing.—TB

I recommend the MagnaLatch without reservation. We have 4 grandchildren all under 8 years old. Although my wife is short and has some issues reaching the latch to open it, it has kept our grandchildren out of the pool area.—DH
